Obituary
Mr. Jeffery David Simpkins, age 55, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2023. Jeff was born October 1, 1967 to Opal and Lawrence Simpkins in Satanta, Kansas. He grew up in Fort Collins and Lamar, Colorado. Jeff graduated from Lamar High School in 1986, and worked on the ranches and on the oil rigs with his brothers before joining the United States Army in 1988. He settled in Fort Walton Beach, FL. with his wife and son after being discharged. Jeff worked in construction and property management for most of his adult life. He also opened a gun store with his business partner and friend, Chris Marsh. Jeff was an avid firearms enthusiast, and greatly enjoyed shooting sports, as well as hunting and fishing. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Jeff was preceded in death by his mother and father, as well as his brother, Earl Oakley, and sister, Elouise Lyons. He is survived by his son, Emilio Simpkins; former wife, Angie Simpkins; special niece, Rachel Walker; brother, Stephen Oakley, and sisters, Rita Osborne, Stacey Bannister, and Laurie Oakley, as well as his many nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be held at Saint Mary Catholic Church in Fort Walton Beach on March 2, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. with a reception to follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Parish Life Center. Jeff's ashes will be interred at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida on March 3, 2023 at 10:30 a.m.
