Joseph "JoeBob" Robert Brannon, age 89, of Blue Mountain Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2025, in Sandestin, Florida. Born February 7, 1936, in Newville, Alabama, to Lockhart and Nina Joe Brannon, JoeBob lived a life defined by service, dedication, and a love for the outdoors.
After earning a degree in forestry from the University of Florida, JoeBob served proudly in the United States Marine Corps for four years, embodying the values of honor, courage, and commitment that stayed with him throughout his life. Following his military service, he worked as a city planner for Eglin Air Force Base Civil Engineering for 40 years and later made a lasting impact on the community by helping establish internet services in Fort Walton Beach, connecting countless homes and businesses.
JoeBob's passions extended beyond his career. An avid outdoorsman, he loved fishing, running, boating, hunting, and gardening, finding joy in nature and sharing those experiences with family and friends. His enthusiasm, curiosity, and gentle humor touched everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his children, Patrick Joseph Brannon and his spouse, Deborah Jo Brannon and daughter, Katherine Jeanine Masciola and her spouse, Phillip James Masciola; grandchildren, Mary Katherine Masciola, Anna Marie Masciola, Andrew Phillip Masciola, Adam Joseph Masciola, Kyle Brannon and his spouse, Maiya Brannon, and Jason and Daniel Perry; great-grandchild, Ryland Kyle Brannon; niece, Nancy Elizabeth Schmitkons and her husband, Karl Schmitkons; as well as grandnephew, Kurt William Schmitkons and sibling, James "Randy" Randall Williams. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lockhart and Nina Joe Brannon; and sister, Jeanine Brannon Williams.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. at Davis Watkins Funeral Home, 113 Racetrack Road Northeast, Fort Walton Beach, FL, with the family receiving friends beginning at 12:00 P.M. The interment will immediately follow at Beal Memorial Cemetery with Marine Honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to 30A Cats of Santa Rosa Beach in JoeBob's memory.
