Peggy Louise McKenney, age 83, passed away at her home in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, on Thursday, October 23, 2025. She was born in Powder Springs, Georgia, on March 29,1942 to the late Robert Harold and Lettie Opal (Wallace) Hilley, and was the last surviving child of the Hilley family.
She was married to William Trenton McKenney and had three daughters before she moved to Northwest Florida in 1974.
Peggy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mac. Peggy was a beloved sister, mother, grandma, aunt, cousin and friend, whose life touched many over the years. She will be remembered for her deep love for family, and the many passions that brought joy and meaning to her life. Her grandchildren were the sparkle in her eyes - whether she was cheering them on, sharing stories, or simply spending time with them, every moment was treasured
She is survived by daughters, Debrah Pavlas and husband, Jay, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Denise Kent of Dothan, Alabama, and Lisa McKenney of Freeport, Florida; grandchildren, Cara Kriz and husband, Daniel, of New Baden, Illinois, Chris Herron and wife, Christa, of Crestview, Florida, Jason and Angela Kent of Colorado, Nathan Kent of Dothan, Alabama, Casey Cox and wife, Mary, of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, and Tyler Vandermate of Freeport, Florida; seventeen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to offer a special thanks to the staff and residents of Belvedere Commons, Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
