Jeffery Dan Smith, 63, passed away at his home Friday morning in Rexburg.

"Jeff" was born on Feb. 20, 1962, in Bellview, Washington, to Conrad Joe Smith and Wilma Jean Rolph Smith. The family later moved to California where Jeff attended school and graduated in 1980 from Brethern High School in Paramount, California. He later served
a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints back in his hometown of Bellview, Washington, from 1982 to 1984.

He attended Cerritos Community College in Cerritos, California. He later worked at Bay City Containers as an engineer.

On Aug. 17, 2013 , he married his best friend Lisa Westenskow Smith. The two enjoyed 12 years of a really good marriage.

Jeff was a good man, always willing to help, and it wasn't unusual for him to help stranded motorists along the highway. He was never out to prove anything and was always so kind and friendly to everyone he came in contact with. He was exceptionally supportive
of Lisa with her work at the Standard Journal, and in everything she did. She says he was "the world's best husband."

Jeff's hobbies included tracing his family tree, and he found a great deal of satisfaction attending the Temple. He enjoyed old movies and collected a lot of classic films.

While in Rexburg, he worked for a time with the Rexburg Police Department and said it was one of the best jobs he ever had. He became close friends with many of the officers he worked with, and they often told Lisa "Oh, yeah, you're Jeff's wife."

He is survived by his wife Lisa; his father Conrad Smith; his sister Janet Bosteter; his nephew Benjamin Bosteter; his children Noah Smith, Allison Hilton, and Kyle Smith as well as six grandchildren. He's also survived by three step-children, Benjamin Dayley,
Elizabeth Stock and Alicia Nyguen and six step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by Wilma Smith and his father-in-law Dean Westenskow.

Heaven gained a great man on Friday morning. While his earthly family will miss him, we all know how happy and healthy he is in heaven. He struggled with diabetes since he was 11 years old, but was exceptionally fortunate to have such good medical care and
especially so here in Rexburg .

We are excited for him to get to see his mother again as well as all the ancestors who he did temple work for and did so for more than 30 years. We will miss you, Jeff, your kindness and your smile. We love you and look forward to seeing you again soon.
