It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved brother, Jeff. As the youngest of our family, he emerged as a remarkable individual, effortlessly surpassing the shadow of his identical twin siblings. Like our parents, Jeff pursued a career in retail and interior design, working for various department stores throughout his life before embarking on a journey to own his own business. Alongside his devoted long-term partner, David Anthony Chenault, Decorium Gift & Home became a beloved fixture on King Street in Alexandria, Virginia. Until Jeff's retirement, the store welcomed frequent visits from clients, not only to admire the merchandise but also as a social gathering place.
Jeff was a kind and generous soul, renowned for his unwavering positivity and refusal to speak ill of anyone. As someone who found solace in the company of others and struggled to adapt to retirement, Jeff made a positive impact in 2023 by joining the Shops at Mount Vernon. His supervisor shared the following with his colleagues: "It is with great sorrow that I inform you of the passing of our esteemed coworker and friend, Jeffrey Albert, on Wednesday, January 22nd. Jeff joined The Shops in July 2023 and quickly became an invaluable member of our team. His dedication, infectious spirit, exceptional sense of fashion, and genuine kindness left an indelible mark on everyone he interacted with. Whether it was his enthusiasm for assisting customers or the camaraderie he fostered in our workplace, Jeffrey's presence truly made a significant difference."
Jeff is survived by his partner David Anthony Chenault, his twin sisters, Wendy Johnson (Edgar Fenzl) and Gwen Melincoff (Ron) and his nieces, Jacqueline Johnson and Lesley Melincoff.
