Jeffrey A. Barksdale

Jeffrey "Jeff" Alan Barksdale, 73, of Wexford, passed away on January 22 surrounded by family after a
short battle with pancreatic cancer.
Jeff was born and raised in Pittsburgh and loved all things Pittsburgh. A proud graduate of North
Allegheny High School, he helped plan his class reunions for many years and always looked forward to
reuniting with his classmates. He graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Science in
Accounting and earned a Master of Science in Taxation from Robert Morris University. After starting his
career at Arthur Andersen, he co-founded local accounting firm Bates, Barksdale, Ickert & Co. in 1979
where he served as a partner for more than 40 years. He retired in 2021, giving him more time to do his
favorite things, like going to dinner with his wife of 42 years, reading the paper, swimming laps at North
Park Swimming Pool and golfing. Jeff was a longtime member of Ingomar United Methodist Church and
supported many of the church's charitable causes.
Jeff will be remembered for his big personality and huge heart. You could always count on him to have a
well-timed story or piece of trivia ready to liven any conversation. Above all, he loved his family and
nothing made him happier than being with his kids and grandkids.
Preceded in death by father Charles, mother Jean and son Randy. He is survived by loving wife Joyce;
children Christy (Mike), Ryan (Wendy) and Leslie (Sam); grandchildren Deacon, Carter and Lucy; brother
Kent; sister Suzy; and many nieces, nephews, friends and clients.
Friends will be received on Sunday, January 28, 1-4 p.m., at Simons Funeral Home, 7720 Perry Highway,
Pittsburgh, www.simonsfuneralhome.com. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 29, at
11:00 a.m. at Ingomar United Methodist Church, 1500 W. Ingomar Rd., in Franklin Park. For those who
are not able to celebrate Jeff's life in person, a live stream will be available at www.ingomarchurch.org.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jeff's honor to Ingomar United Methodist Church's general
fund.
