It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jeffrey Bavaro, a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend to so many, who touched the lives of all who knew him.
Born on March 14, 1962, in Staten Island, New York, Jeff lived his life with passion, dedication, and an unwavering love for his family and many friends. Jeff is survived by his son Christopher, daughter Rebecca, brother Roy, and wonderful grandson Noah, as well as daughter-in-law Olivia, son-in-law Nick, sister-in-law Mary and brother-in-law Alex. As a devoted husband to Francine, his wife of 35 years, he was the cornerstone of his family, providing strength, support, and endless love. He was a loving father, and his children knew they could always count on his guidance, encouragement, and unconditional love.
Jeff's passion for music was at the forefront of his life, and he built a prolific music career of countless recordings and concerts that spanned more than four decades as a rock/blues guitarist. Most recently, as a founding member of the blues-rock band Fish Eyed Blues, Jeff played countless gigs throughout New Jersey and beyond, developing a devoted fan base that became a community of friendship. The band also released two albums of original music, with a third in post production and on the way. Through his music, Jeffrey brought people together, creating lasting bonds and shared memories that extended far beyond the stage. He was also an active member of the Jersey Shore Jazz & Blues Foundation, where he shared his love of music with fellow enthusiasts and contributed to a vibrant local music community.
Jeff's passion extended into the world of sports as well. He loved baseball and was a second baseman on highly successful Middletown South High School teams, as well as an avid fan of the New York Yankees. He was also a passionate fan of the New York Jets and New Jersey Devils, and enjoyed countless memories with friends and family while watching/attending games.
A wake will be held at John F Pfleger Funeral Home (115 Tindall Rd, Middletown Township, NJ 07748) on Sunday, July 13 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm, and a funeral Mass will be held on Monday, July 14 at Church of Saint Leo the Great (50 Hurleys Lane, Lincroft, NJ 07738) at 10:15am.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Jersey Shore Jazz & Blues Foundation in Jeff's memory, honoring his commitment to the music that brought him such joy.
