Jeffrey A. Engel

Jeffrey A. Engel died unexpectedly at his parent's home September 16 in Niskayuna, NY. Jeff was the beloved son of David and Cindy Engel and brother of Leslie. He was 38 years old. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother-in-law, Mark McCormick and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Jeff graduated summa cum laude from SUNY Delhi, and worked as a research associate at SUNY Poly. He took great pleasure in nature and was a terrific skier. As a skilled thoroughbred handicapper, Jeff enjoyed going to the horse races. In addition, he ran information services for Obviously NY Stables. He was also an active fundraiser for the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation. Jeff was an avid music fan and well-loved in the jam band community. The only thing he enjoyed more than listening to Phish and the Disco Biscuits was rooting on his favorite hockey team, the NY Rangers, the latter of which gave him one year of joy and decades of agony. A memorial will be held at Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Avenue in Albany Wednesday, September 20 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jeff's memory can be made to the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America or the ASPCA.
