Jeffrey Hall

Jeffrey W. "Jeff" Hall of Columbiana passed away on Monday, December 2, 2024 following an illness.
Jeff was born in East Liverpool on March 21, 1949, and lived here for the majority of his life. He was 75 years old. He was the son of the late Jesse and Ruby Hall. Jeff was a well-known high school athlete, recognized as a 2004 Beaver Local High School Hall of Fame Inductee, who played baseball on a scholarship from Kent State University. He went on to play professional baseball as a pitcher in the New York Yankees organization for three years before a battle with diabetes closed out his career. He was named All-County, All Buckeye Border Conference, and team MVP his senior year in football. In basketball, he was an all-conference selection for two years. On the diamond, Hall set a school record for strikeouts in one game with 20 against Salem. He also received the Harry Greenwood Memorial Award his senior year. In college, Hall was named to the All-Mid American Conference team and was selected to play in the USA Japan College World Series in Japan in 1971. He signed a free-agent contract with the Yankees and played in their farm system from 1972-1975. Hall is also a member of the Greater Akron Hall of Fame. He was inducted in 1984.
For nearly forty years, Jeff owned businesses in the area, including All Sport Supplies, providing trophies, screen prints, and spirit wear to surrounding teams and schools. The joys of his life were his late son, Conner, and daughter, Lisa. Those who knew Jeff will remember his love for life and contagious laughter.
In addition to his parents and son, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry.
Left with cherished memories are his daughter, Lisa (Ted) Ziemer, and grandsons, Teddy, Linus & Hugo of Evansville, Indiana; brother, George (Julie) Hall of Englewood, Florida; nephew, Sam (Jenny) Hall of York, Pennsylvania; niece, Jessica (Jacob) Schwertfeger of Livingston, Zambia; cousin, Andy (Shari) Hall of Canfield and many close friends and neighbors.
We will celebrate Jeff's life on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at the Arner Funeral Chapel at 2:00 PM. Friends may visit with his family two hours prior to the service from noon-2:00 PM.
