Jeffrey enjoyed hiking, mountain climbing, golf and baseball. He also enjoyed watching the St. Louis Blues and he was a devoted Christian.
He is survived by his mother, Joyce (nee: Copeland) Merz of Mitchell; brother, Derek (Karen Andrews) Merz of Mitchell; sisters, Linda (John) Hoffman of Fairview Heights, Diana Merz of St. Jacob and Kimberly Timmons of Mitchell; 35 nieces and nephews and several aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his father, Myron Merz.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date.
Cremation services entrusted to Wojstrom Funeral Home & Crematory in Granite City. Online guestbook available at www.wojstrom.com.
