Jeffrey Ray Obituary

Jeffrey Philip Ray
Born: January 26, 1971
Died: March 17, 2022
Jeffrey Philip Ray, age 51 of Naperville, passed away suddenly, Thursday, March 17, 2022. He was born January 26, 1971 in Monmouth, IL to his loving parents, W. Donald and the late Harriet A. Ray of Monmouth. Cherished husband of Carrie F. Ray, nee Fischer, married on December 28, 2007. Beloved father of Ben Kuefler and Emma Ray. Brother of Doug (Sue) Ray of Princeton, IL, Mark (Abbie) Ray of Carthage, IL, and the late Karen Ray. Uncle of numerous nieces and nephews. Son-in-law of Rod and Mary Jacobs of the Villages, FL and brother-in-law of Lindy (Derek) Crouch of Maineville, OH.
Jeff was a 1989 graduate of Warren High School. He earned a Bachelor's Degree from University of Illinois, class of 1993 and a Master's Degree from Purdue University. Jeff spent his entire career in agricultural finance, first working for Prudential Insurance and currently for Compeer Financial, as a credit officer. Jeff enjoyed working on his family farm and cherished the time he spent with his family. Jeff loved and was so proud of his children Ben and Emma. They were his pride and joy. Jeff had a passion for helping people through his church and various community organizations. Jeff was especially heartbroken with what is happening in Ukraine as he spent 2 years living and volunteering there. Everyone who met Jeff instantly saw what a kind, loving soul he was.

I had the privilege of getting to know Jeff when he was a Masters student at Purdue. He was smart, hardworking, thoughtful, and kind - and we had some fun playing basketball in the graduate student league! Just know that all of us who had the chance to work with Jeff at Purdue extend our deepest sympathies and our thoughts and prayers to the family. I hope your memories of this exceptional man can provide you some comfort at this most difficult time.

One thing I want to say (besides that you are not alone) is that as long as a person is mentioned in conversation, I do not believe that they are gone--not really. Keep talking about Jeff; he is worth remembering. You and Emma and Ben have our prayers.

We were shocked and saddened to hear of Jeff's passing. He was a mentor to our son Ben for confirmation. Such a great role model. We enjoyed working with him with the Son Light Sunday School class. He was an amazing person. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of his family at this time.
