Obituary of Jeffrey T. Roby
Jeffrey T. Roby was born Dec. 27, 1967, in Hartford and died June 20, 2024. He was a graduate of Conard High School in West Hartford and the University of Connecticut where he earned his bachelor's degree. From an early age, he had a strong work ethic that continued throughout his life, culminating in the establishment of Jeff Roby Insurance in Glastonbury. He had an adventurous spirit and loved the outdoors. He shared his passion for the ocean with his beloved boys, boating, jet skiing, fishing, tubing, and swimming. There were quads and dirt bikes and snowboards. He taught the boys life skills, planting gardens, preparing meals, maintaining motors and tools. They created "art barn" where they painted and hung their artwork. Witty and clever, he could deliver a punch line like a pro. He was an avid reader and football fan cheering for his team and his boys. There was no stopping Jeff, until there was. He leaves behind a heartbroken family: sons William and Matthew Roby of whom he was so proud and their mother Julie Messer; mother and stepfather Jane and Edward Shaskan, West Hartford; stepmother Geraldine Roby, Branford; brother Andrew Roby, Kamas, Utah; stepsiblings Lisa [Paul] Farrell, West Hartford; Drew Shaskan, Venice, Calif.; and Ashley [Michael] Negron, Wallingford, as well as many extended family members, and his devoted staff [Lisa and Rick], all of whom were so important to him. He was predeceased by his father Thomas Roby, brother Christian Roby and stepbrother Gregory Shaskan. Friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, Glastonbury, Sunday, June 30, 2024 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Burial will be Monday, July 1, 2024 at 11:00 am, Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford.
