Jeffrey Eugene Roop, 75, of Idaho Falls, passed away August 3, 2024, at his home. He was under the care of his loving family and Hands of Hope Hospice.
Jeff was born September 26, 1948, in Bethesda, Maryland, to Eugene Roop and Clara LeMasters Roop. He grew up and attended schools in Hopewell, Virginia, and graduated from Hopewell High School. He also attended Cal State Fullerton where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, and his Master's Degree in Public Administration. He played football at Hopewell High School, Fullerton J.C. and Long Beach State University. He also served in the Army National Guard during the Vietnam War.
On August 9, 1969, he married the love of his life, Karen Lynne Casselbury, in Buena Park, California. Jeff and Karen made their home in Corona, California. Jeff retired at the rank of Lieutenant from the Fullerton Police Department after 30 years of honorable service.
He enjoyed woodworking and golfing. He loved his grandsons, Nick, Jake, Josh, Tyler, and Colby. He always told them, "Grandpa loves you!"
Jeff is survived by his wife, Karen Roop of Idaho Falls, ID; daughters, Kathy (Doug) Davidson of Idaho Falls, ID and Sandy (Jeremy) Floyd of Corona, CA; grandsons, Nickolas (Halie) Davidson, Jake Davidson, Joshua Davidson, Tyler Floyd, and Colby Floyd; sisters, Valerie (Al) Bates of Burke, VA, Maureen (Ron) Hanna of Seal Beach, CA, and Beverly (Bill) Pearson of Cypress, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Clara Roop.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Inurnment will be in the Ammon Cemetery where Police Honors will be performed.
