Macedon, NY
Jeffry Woodrow Stell went home to be with his Savior on December 12th 2023 after a long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family. Jeffry is predeceased by his parents Douglas and Harriet Stell. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend Nanette (Dempsey) Stell, his three loving children, Lauren Bell, Justin Bell, and Sydney Stell, as well as his granddaughter Adrianna. He is fondly remembered by his brother Douglas (Susan) Stell, and his Aunt Pati Demont, loving mother in law, Jean Dempsey, well-loved in laws Susan (Doug) Caveney, Chris (Diane) Dempsey, and Colleen (Joe) Cunningham, as well as many nieces, nephews, dear friends and the many students he helped over the years.
Jeffry was born on September 27th 1961, in Binghamton, NY. He spent most of his childhood in Newark, NY where he attended Newark High School. He went on to attend Eastman School of music, received a degree in Vocal Performance from Roberts Wesleyan College, as well as a masters degree in Counseling from SUNY Brockport.
Jeffry was a school counselor in the Clyde Savannah school district until his retirement in 2018. He loved helping kids to thrive academically, emotionally, and spiritually. He helped many students attend college and find their callings. His impact as a counselor continues to resonate throughout the community.
Since his retirement, Jeffry has been able to focus on his church. He was a devoted Sunday school teacher and community group leader, as well as a member of many committees at Bible Baptist Church of Sodus. You could often find him singing praise to the Lord with his glorious baritone voice whether from a pew or the stage. He trusted Jesus with his life and sought to bring those around him to a saving knowledge of the Gospel, even in his final days.
His church family was extremely meaningful to him, and have been supportive to his family throughout his illness and into his last days.
Jeffry's lifelong focus has always been his family. He loved cooking for his family, enjoying vacations, playing Euchre, and listening to music out on the porch, which he designed. He had the best sense of humor, constantly making his family laugh and bringing joy to those around him. His granddaughter Adrianna was very special to Jeff, a constant source of joy. His light and laughter will be missed by so many.
Family and friends may call for Jeffry Friday, December 15th 3-7pm at New Comer Cremations and Funerals, 2636 Ridgeway Ave. (GREECE LOCATION). A Celebration of Life service will be held at Bible Baptist Church of Sodus, 6181 Ridge Rd, Sodus, NY 14551, at 10:30 am Saturday morning December 16, 2023.
