Jennette passed away peacefully on September 14, 2024 surrounded by her family. She was born on May 10, 1921 to William and Jennie (Eibergen) Jakobi. She married Fred M. Speener on February 3, 1939 in White Lake, WI and spent 57 wonderful years together. They moved to Kaukauna around 1943, then Jennette moved to St. Paul Home in 2018 at the age of 97.
Jennette and Fred were avid campers, specifically Hartman Creek in Waupaca. They were the very first host for the Wisconsin State Park System. Jennette continued to camp solo well into her 80's. She was also a very good seamstress and sewer. She made her daughters wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses. She loved to garden and just be outside. She also volunteered for many years at Community Clothes closet.
She is survived by her children; Sandy Derks of Kaukauna, Rebecca (John) Hengel of Dale, Linda (Chuck) Lohr of Port Washington; twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law Arlyss Speener. Along with her dear friend Donna.
Jennette is preceded in death by her parents, husband Fred, son Jerome, son-in-law Thomas, and 2 granddaughters.
There will be a memorial service held at Peace Family United Methodist Church on Saturday September 21, 2024 at 1pm. There won't be a visitation before the service but there will be a gathering for cookies and coffee to follow the service.
The family would like to thank the staff and friends at St. Paul Elder Community. Your loving care meant so much to the family.
