Arlyss R. Speener (Haugen), age 82 years, of West Bend passed away peacefully on February 17, 2025, at Cedar Community in West Bend surrounded by her loving family.
Arlyss was born on October 4, 1942, in Milwaukee to Alvin and Charlotte Haugen (Davis). She was married to Jerome F. Speener on September 14, 1968, until Jerome’s death on August 28, 2024.
Arlyss graduated from Germantown High School. She retired from Samaritan Health Center as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She enjoyed going for rides with Jerome and getting some ice cream. She also enjoyed knitting mittens, a hobby she learned from her mom. She was also active at church with bible study, book club, and assisting where she could with church services.
Those Arlyss leaves behind to cherish her memory include her four children, Michelle Kornitz, Charlotte Speener, Fred Speener, and Alex Speener; three grandchildren, Avery (Lila Johnson) Kornitz, Morgan Kornitz, and Samantha Speener; a great-grandchild, Norah Kornitz; sister, Judy Isaacson; three brothers, Ronnie (Sharon) Haugen, Bernie (Jean) Haugen, and Tom (Jane) Putnam; three sisters-in-law, Sandra Derks, Becky (John) Hengel, and Linda (Chuck) Lohr; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jerome; daughter, Vanessa Speener; parents, Alvin and Charlotte Haugen; father and mother-in-law, Fred and Jeanette Speener; and two brothers-in-law, Laurie Isaacson and Tom Derks.
Arlyss’s family and friends will celebrate her life on Saturday, March 15, 2025, from noon until 2:00 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, 140 N 7th Avenue, West Bend, WI 53095.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Cedar Community for their care and compassion.
