Jeremy William Wakefield, 38, of Oxford NY, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 29, 2023, with his family by his side.  Jeremy was born in Norwich, NY to William L. Wakefield and Renae (Mackey) Wakefield. Jeremy was predeceased by his father, and by his beloved cousin Amelia Wakefield.

Jeremy is survived by his wife Maria Wakefield, and by his daughter Taylor Wakefield. He is also survived by his mother Renae (Eric Phinney) Wakefield and by his sister Ashley (Glen Ross) Wakefield. Jeremy is also survived by his nieces Sequoia and Willow, and by his special family members Dain Cast, Stephanie Bush, Colleen Mead, and Kevin Fritschler. Jeremy also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, extended family members, his fair family,  and his beloved dogs, Groot, Rocket, and Keria Roo.

Jeremy was a graduate of Oxford Academy and Central Schools. He started working at the age of 14 for the American Fireworks Company where he stayed for many years, becoming a pyrotechnician and shooting firework displays all over New York State. Later in his fireworks career his wife Maria would join him. The couple spent many years and had countless adventures shooting firework work shows in the surrounding communities.  Jeremy was loved by many people. He had an amazing sense of humor and always enjoyed making his friends and family smile and laugh. Jeremy was a family man, he loved spending time and making memories with his daughter Taylor and his nieces. He was an avid memorabilia collector for anything DC Comics, movie, or music related. He loved music, especially 80’s and football. Jeremy also loved movies and cinema, having a vast DVD collection, he could always be found quoting his favorite lines from his favorite films. For anyone who knew Jeremy also knew that he loved Superman and Jeremy himself lived up to that title. He was an unbelievably strong man, with a kind heart and an honest soul. He loved his friends and family deeply and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He will be forever missed by all those who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Jeremy’s memory can be made to the American Heart Association.

Friends and family may call at the Behe Funeral Home Inc. 21 Main Street, Oxford, NY, on Friday, June 2, 2023, from 4:00PM - 7:00PM. The family wishes to invite everyone to their home for a celebration of life on Saturday, June 3, 2023, from 1:00PM-5:00PM. The family would like to request that those in attendance on both Friday and Saturday in honor of Jeremy, do not wear black, but instead please wear anything Superman, or DC Comic related. Friends and family may share memories or condolences by visiting www.behefuneralhome.com.
