Jerid Jack Matheson, age 49, died Tuesday, December 24, 2024 at his home in Logandale, Nevada after a courageous fight with pancreatic cancer. He was born June 26, 1975 in Cedar City, Utah to Voy Jack and Sheila Joyce Hatch Matheson. On April 17, 1998 he married Mandie Marie Waite in the St. George LDS Temple.
Jerid lived in Cedar City till he was 12. Then he spent the next three years moving to Kingman, Laughlin and Richfield for his dad’s work. They finally settled in Moapa Valley as Jerid started his sophomore year. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Utah and later his Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from A.T. Still University in Mesa, Arizona. He loved his job as a therapist and found great joy in seeing his patients improve their lives. He was an avid sports fan, especially when his children were competing. He loved the hours he spent coaching youth football and baseball and supporting his kids in all of their activities. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family.
Jerid’s faith in the gospel was a very important part of his life. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Atlanta Georgia Mission. He loved serving in the Young Men’s Organization and as the Executive Secretary for President Matthew Messer. Over the past year, the 4L Ruck Club has become a very important part of his life for the exercise and fellowship. Above all, the time he spent with his family was his most prized. He loved them and supported them with every fiber of his being.
Survivors include his wife, Mandie of Logandale; one son and four daughters: Shyanne of Provo, UT; Emily (Hunter) Knoll of Rexburg, ID; Shandon, Mckenzie and Megan all of Logandale; parents, Voy and Sheila Matheson; in laws, Lanny and Maxine Waite all of Logandale; two brothers and two sisters: Shane (Leia) of Logandale, NV; Jamie (Garret) McCullogh of Bentonville, AR; Brooke and Ken (Cayla) Matheson both of Logandale.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 3, 2025 at 11 a.m.at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Logandale East Stake Center, 2555 St. Joseph Street, Logandale, NV. Visitation will be Thursday, January 2, 2025 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Moapa Valley Mortuary and again from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the chapel. Interment will follow in the Logandale Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to sign our online guest book at www.moapavalleymortuary.com
