Jerimiah Thoden Obituary
Published by Legacy on Nov. 19, 2025.
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Jerimiah Joseph Edward Thoden, a son, grandson, brother, uncle, stepfather, mentor, and friend whose heart was as big as the life he lived. Jerimiah left us far too soon; his absence leaves a void that can never be filled. Born with a naturally giving spirit, Jerimiah was known for his tremendous heart. He never hesitated to step into the lives of others with love and loyalty. He helped raise his ex-wife's children as his own, offering them stability, guidance, and the kind of unwavering support that defined who he was. Family to Jerimiah was never limited by blood-it was built through love, presence, and if he considered you family, you truly were. To those he helped raise, he was a safe place and a source of unconditional acceptance. He listened without judgment, supported them through heartbreaks, challenges, and growing pains. He filled their childhood with unforgettable experiences, from driving them around enjoying the air or taking them wherever they needed to go and cheering them on in everything they pursued. He left them with countless memories like cooking dinner, watching games, and movies. His willingness to show up for everybody in ways they will forever remember will not be forgotten. Jerimiah held a deep and special place in the hearts of his nieces and nephews. To them, he was "Uncle Miah" someone who made them feel seen, loved, and cared for. Sports were among Jerimiah's greatest passions. He loved football, both playing and watching, living the spirit of the game. In his younger years he played semi-pro football, and softball. More so he found joy and purpose in coaching baseball where he would pour patience, encouragement, and pride into young athletes growing on and off the field. Jerimiah felt most at peace outdoors, fishing with friends and family. Known for his warm and vibrant personality, Jerimiah made memories with the people he loved. His laughter and energy could light up the room. Above all, Jerimiah loved his family, friends, and anyone he brought into the circle of his life. He cherished time spent with his nieces, nephews, and the many others he welcomed as family, creating moments built on laughter, encouragement, and genuine connection. Jerimiah's legacy is one of generosity, devotion, and love that reached far beyond himself. Those who knew him well will forever remember his enormous heart, his willingness to help anyone in need, and the lasting impact he had on so many lives. Jerimiah is survived by his father Joseph Thoden of Peru; a grandmother Jeannette Thoden of Harrisburg, PA; siblings Stephen (Brandi) Thoden of Peru, Ian (Tiffanie) Thoden of Peru, and Jacob (Kristie) Thoden of Peru; and multiple nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Teresa Jernigan. A service celebrating the life of Jerimiah Joseph Edward Thoden will be held at 6:00 PM, Monday, November 24, 2025, at the Community Church of Mexico, 4088 N Carroll St. Mexico, IN, with Pastor Jake Rickard officiating. Friends and family will gather for visitation from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at the church. May he rest in peace, and may those who loved him carry forward the compassion, warmth, and loyalty he gave so freely. If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out-there is always help, always hope, and you do matter.
