Jerold Richard Zinz (93) passed away in his home in North
Ogden, Utah on October 28, 2025. "Jerry", as he was known to his family and friends, was born on August 28, 1932 in Transfer, Pennsylvania to George Zinz and Sophie (Theil) Zinz. He was known for being a very loving and loyal husband to the love of his life, Ethel Virginia Gegogeine, for 56 years. They married on March 2, 1956 and were later Sealed for all Time and Eternity in the Washington DC Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints on March 3, 1978.
Jerry and Ethel considered their greatest achievement being the raising of their four wonderful children in Franklin, PA; Alan Eugene Zinz (Patricia)of North
Ogden, UT, Michael Lee Zinz (Sandy) of Marble Hill, MO, Ralph Thomas Zinz (Nancy) of Warsaw, IN and Mary Emma Howard (Harold) of Linwood, NC.
As well as being dedicated to his family, Jerry was very dedicated and loyal to his Heavenly Father and his Savior, Jesus Christ. Along side his wife, they served as honorable missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Lincoln, Nebraska area of the Omaha Nebraska Mission. He also served in many other capacities for the church.
Jerry was also an proud veteran of the US Army and served in the Korean theater. Later, he transitioned to the Army Reserve for an additional 4 years. He received an honorable discharged and was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal for his dedicated service.
Jerold's later years saw him embarking on new adventures with Ethel, moving to Linwood, North Carolina, and eventually settling in North
Ogden, Utah in 2008. Despite the changes, his love for his family remained a constant, a love that is survived in his son Michael, daughter Mary and their families, a posterity of 22 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and several great great grandchildren.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife Ethel, two of his sons, Alan and Ralph, two grandsons, Joseph and Shawn and two great granddaughters Emily and Nadia. As we mourn the loss of this remarkable man, we celebrate the amazing life he lived, and the love and faith he instilled in us all.
Jerry was expressly known to be hard working, honest and to have a profound sense of integrity. He proudly passed these ideals on to his children and grandchildren.

Ogden, Utah on Wednesday, November 5th from 6 until 8 PM. Family gathering for Jerry will be from 9:00 AM until 9:45 AM with funeral services beginning promptly at 10 AM on Thursday, November 6, at the Ogden 4th Ward, located at 1791 N 600 E in North
Ogden, UT.
Internment and Military Honors will take place at Ben Lomond Cemetery, 526 East 2850 North, North
Ogden, Utah.
