Jerome (Jerry) Holmes Blackman, age 87, now free from the recent burden of age-related illness, passed away on December 18, 2018. Jerry is the last of his siblings to pass; all grew up in Altadena. After graduating from Muir, Jerry attended UCLA before serving in the Army, highlighted by his time in Austria. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth (Betsy) Blackman, his partner in raising five children in Sierra Madre. Jerry enjoyed biking near and far, hiking in the local mountains, annual trips to the Sierras for skiing and backpacking. He was much admired for his playful and adventuresome spirit. Upon retirement from 37 years at Allstate Insurance, Jerry took up cooking, hosting many fine meals for family and friends. He and Betsy traveled actively well into their 80's. A memorial gathering will be held in the first quarter of the New Year.
