Jerome "Jerry" B. Burg, age 82, of Mount Calvary, passed away at his home with his family at his side on Sunday, June 4, 2023, after a short battle with cancer.
He was born April 20, 1941, in Malone, to Frank & Viola (Pickart) Burg. Jerry attended Holy Cross Grade School.
On November 10, 1973, he married Joanne Kaiser at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mount Calvary.
Jerry began his truck driving career hauling cattle, delivering propane, and eventually working for Panetti Stone which later became Buechel Stone; he drove for Buechel Stone for 30 plus years (over a million miles). In his later career, he was the dispatcher and managed the trucking department at Buechel Stone until his retirement in 2004. Following retiring from Buechel Stone, he established his business, Jerry's Consulting, which helped small trucking firms stay compliant with state DOT regulations.
Drag racing was in Jerry's blood, Jerry won numerous races in his Ford Mustang at what is now called Wisconsin International Raceway. He was an avid cribbage player (especially with his wife, & sisters-in-law, Carol Kaiser & Ruth Rusch), enjoyed traveling both for work and taking his family on trips throughout the country. Jerry & Joanne spent the past several winters in Arizona by their son, Tim and making trips up North in Wisconsin to their daughter, Kelly's home. His four legged companion, Millie, was very fortunate to be taken along on many trips as well as just on occasional car ride.
Survivors include his wife, Joanne; his two children, Timothy (Deborah) Burg of Glendale, AZ, and Kelly (Patrick) Day of Lac du Flambeau, WI; his five grandchildren, Kloe Burg, Aiden Burg, Jett Day, Kate Day, and Enzo Day; his brother, Eugene "Gene" Burg of rural St. Cloud "Wolf Lake"; his brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ruth Rusch, Mike (Rosie) Kaiser, Julie Kaiser, Carol Kaiser, and Lyla Kaiser. He is further survived by many nieces; nephews; other relatives; and many friends.
Preceding Jerome in death were his parents, Frank & Viola Burg; an infant daughter, Jodi Burg; his brother, Francis "Franz" (Janet) Burg; his father-in-law & mother-in-law, Eugene & Nicella Kaiser; and his brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Kate (John) Halbach, Gerald Kaiser, Robert Kaiser, Donald Kaiser, Richard Kaiser, and Gene "Beno" Rusch.
