Carstens, Jerome Allen age 78, of Minneapolis passed away on May 1, 2021. Born in Worthington, MN. Preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Orma Carstens and baby brother Bruce. Survived by his loving wife, Marcia, married 56 years, sons Jeffrey Allen and companion Sue Aretz, and Timothy Christopher and proud grandpa to twin grandsons, Chris and Nick, 8 months old. Siblings Verlis Carstens (LeeAnn), Wilbur Carstens (Marion), Dennis Carstens, Brian Carstens (Andrea), Linda Carstens. Sisters in law, Kathleen Varner, Nancy Andreasen and brother in law, John Andreasen. And several nieces and nephews. He attended Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf. Landed a job as a type-setter with what was then called the Minneapolis Star and Tribune. Worked until his retirement in 2002 after 34 years. He loved sports and played on softball and basketball teams, bowling and skiing. Did traveling in U.S., mostly in California and took a cruise in the Carribean. Loved watching sports on TV, skilled cribbage player and card games. Always did the Cryptoquip puzzle every morning from the Star Tribune newspaper. While in hospital, he enjoyed his last ice cream while watching the Twins game in the afternoon. So grateful he did not suffer and know that he is resting peacefully now. Due to COVID-19, private memorial service will be held on Sat., May 15 at 11:30 with visitation 1/2 hour before service at Dawn Valley Funeral Chapel, 9940 Bush Lake Rd, Bloomington, MN. 55438. Interment Burial Sunset Cemetery, St. Anthony, MN. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to American Cancer Society. Washburn-McReavy.com Dawn Valley Chapel 952-941-7686
