Jerome John Grzegorczyk, age 94, loving husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away peacefully on July 26, 2024, in Midland, Michigan. Born on March 16, 1930, in Beaver Township, Michigan, Jerome was the cherished son of the late Joseph and Julia (Klosowski) Grzegorczyk. His life was a testament to his strong Catholic faith instilling those same values in his sons.
Jerome's journey through life was one of devotion and service. He married the love of his life, Angeline Prill, on September 4, 1954. Together, they celebrated 69 years of marriage, filled with love, laughter, and the joy of raising their five sons: Gerard (Sharon), Kenneth (Michele), David (Lori), Bruce (Barbara), and Bryan. The family grew to include cherished grandchildren Dane (Kristin), Gabrielle (Jacob) Bouvy, Noah, Aaron, Trent (Alayna), Alisha (Nick) Hoffman, Jordan (Geri), Jacquelin (Zeb) Tanis, Jaron, and Ace (Jessica), Niki and Andy as well as eleven great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to Jerome's life.
Jerome's is survived by his brother Paul, his sisters Leona Butko and Mary Jo (Mike) Stieve, and sister-in-law Eleanor. He was predeceased by his granddaughter Danielle, his sisters Evelyn Brown and Albina (Bob) Super, his brother Ambrose, sister-in-law Margie, and brother-in-law Louie, all of whom he held dear.
A highly decorated veteran, Jerome proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. His patriotism and bravery were hallmarks of his character. After his military service, Jerome embarked on a successful career with Dow Chemical, where he dedicated numerous years before retiring. His work ethic and commitment to excellence were evident to all who worked alongside him.
Jerome's contributions to his community were manifold. A lifetime member of St. Valentine's Catholic Church, he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the VFW. His entrepreneurial spirit shone through as he owned and operated Delta Auctioneering, often bringing his young sons along, which kept life exciting and full of learning experiences. Jerome also served as the past treasurer of Beaver Township, a role in which he was able to give back to the community he loved. Additionally, he served many clients through his home-based tax service, which he operated for over 50 years.
Outside of his professional and community service endeavors, Jerome had a passion for life and a variety of interests. He enjoyed golfing, especially in the annual G'Bros Golf outing with his sons and grandsons, playing Texas Holdom, and betting on horse races. His love for sports also led him to become a little league manager and an avid bowler. Above all, Jerome cherished the time he spent with his family, recognizing that these moments were the most precious of all.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at 11 am from the Prince of Peace Parish-St. Anne Campus with Rev. Fr. Prentice Tipton presiding with full military funeral honors with burial to follow in St. Valentines Cemetery. Friends may visit at the Rivertown Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, from 3 till 8 pm.
