Jerome W. Hefty, Sr.

June 17, 1943 - May 7, 2025

Burlington - Jerome W. Hefty, Sr., of Burlington, Wis., joined his family in heaven on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.

He was born on June 17, 1943, the 13th of 14 children to Peter and Sophia (Mikula) Hefty. He attended Burlington schools and joined the U.S. Air Force during the Viet Nam conflict and was stationed in Japan as an aircraft mechanic.

He took his skills to a local Burlington auto body repair shop, where he will always be remembered as an honest, dependable, hard working soul for 53 years. Almost 60 years ago, Jerome married his best friend Jane Prott. Together, they enjoyed their home away from home in Spring Green, fishing and hunting.

Jerome is survived by his wife, Jane; his daughters, Sherry (Freddie) Brooks and Laurie Hefty; his grandchildren, Reba (Randy) Erdman and Fred (Mariah) Brooks; his great-grandchildren, Jolene Jane Erdman and Wheylen Erdman; his brother-in-law Fred Prott; many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jerome W. (J.W.) Hefty, Jr.; his parents, Peter and Sophia Hefty; his siblings, Robert (Florence) Hefty, Gladys (Joseph) Cramer, Warren (Hazel) Hefty, Delores Hefty, Margie (Howard) Schoenberg, Marilyn (William) Ide, Donald (Judith) Hefty, John Hefty, Peter (Nancy) Hefty, Barbara (Galen) Droge, Joyce (Wilfred) Pellman, Sophia (George) Phillips, James (Janice) Hefty; nieces and nephews.

Per Jerome's wishes, no funeral services will be held.
