Jerome Paul Hunter

Jerome "Jerry" Hunter, age 69, of Chesapeake City, MD, formerly of Wilmington, DE, passed away on October 18, 2022.
The son of the late Jerome D. and Elizabeth Ann W. Hunter, Jerry was born in Fort Meade, MD. The family eventually made their way to Wilmington where Jerry attended Salesianum School and graduated in 1971. He then went on to earn a bachelor's degree in accounting in 1976 from Wilmington College.
Jerry had an extensive career as a CPA and dedicated his time and talents to the following organizations: Hercules, INC. from 1973-2000 as a Staff Accountant and Financial Director, CP Kelco (joint venture of Hercules) from 2000-2004 as their CFO, United Way of Delaware from 2004-2018 as their Director of Finance and CFO, Westminster Presbytery from 2005-2022 as their manager of accounting, a private business consultant from 2018-2022, and as treasurer and accounting administrator for the New Castle Presbytery from 2021-2022.
When Jerry had free time, he greatly enjoyed golfing, spending time with his grandchildren, watching and cheering for the Philadelphia Eagles, listening to WIP 94 Sports radio, visiting Ocean City, MD and the Jersey Shore, dining out with family and friends, and working on home improvement projects.
He was predeceased by both of his parents, Jerome D. and Elizabeth Ann W. Hunter. Jerry is survived by his spouse, Katherine Hunter; his son, Travis Steven Hunter; and his siblings, Michael Hunter of Myrtle Beach, SC, Ken Hunter of Cheraw, SC, Margaret Hunter of Havre de Grace, MD and Robert Hunter of Clermont, FL.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Saturday, October 29, 2022 from 9AM-11AM at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808. A funeral service will follow at 11AM. Interment will be held privately in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
