Mary Delores Latos - known to so many as BabyDoll or simply Babe - passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025, at the age of 80, after a brave two-year battle with cancer. She was surrounded by the love and comfort of her husband and her two children.

Born on August 24, 1944, in Parma, Ohio, Mary grew up in a close-knit Italian family where love, laughter, and good food were the heart of everyday life. A bright and determined student, she graduated from St. Michael's Catholic High School with all A's. Not long after, she met the love of her life, Ed Latos, at a Cleveland State fraternity party. They hit it off immediately, and from that moment on, they were inseparable. They married on June 25, 1966, beginning what would become a nearly 60-year love story filled with laughter, partnership, and a whole lot of dancing.

Mary and Ed built a beautiful life together, raising their two children, Kim and Jason, while living in Cleveland, Florida, Connecticut, Virginia Beach, and finally Delaware. Along the way, they filled each home with love, laughter, and lifelong friends.

Mary had a long and successful career as a legal administrator, eventually working for one of the largest law firms in Delaware before retiring in 2011. She was a force on the tennis court, winning mixed doubles tournaments with Ed. Off the court, the two were known for their slow, graceful dances together, entertaining at home, hosting dinners with friends, and playing lots of tennis. At home, Mary often had 50s rock and roll playing while she twirled around the kitchen - sometimes with Ed, sometimes just on her own - her smile as warm as the food she was cooking.

She loved the beach, fireworks on the 4th of July (or anytime), strolling the beautiful grounds of Longwood Gardens, and traveling to Italy to soak in its beauty and connect with her roots. She was also an incredible cook and host, known for her rigatoni with sauce and meatballs, her delicious homemade apple pies, her wonderful Thanksgiving dinners, and her crispy fried eggplants. Mary had a way of making everyone feel welcome - she always put others first, making sure every plate was full and every guest felt at home.

She adored her grandchildren, Zane, Kai, and Sadie, and treasured time with her extended family in Cleveland, Kansas City, Pennsylvania, and California, as well as her friends from Cleveland to Delaware and beyond. A proud Cleveland sports fan, especially of the Cavaliers, Mary brought joy, generosity, and grace to every part of her life.

Mary is survived by her husband, Ed; her daughter, Kim (Tom) and son, Jason (Hallie); her grandchildren, Zane, Kai, and Sadie; her sisters and brother; and her extended family and friends who will carry her memory in their hearts.

Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808 on Friday, August 15, 2025 from 5:00 - 7:00pm and again on Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 9:30am - 10:30am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 7200 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, DE 19707. Interment will be held privately.
