Jerome Kern Obituary

In Loving Memory of Jerome Joseph Kern II

Sunrise: 12/24/1943 - Sunset: 9/24/2025

With broken hearts and eternal love, we announce the passing of Jerome Joseph Kern II, who left this world on 9/24/25.

Jerome lived a life rich in love, laughter, and quiet strength. Born in Detroit Michigan, where he was a true lions fan and enjoyed bass fishing in his free time. He carried within himself the spirit of kindness, a deep devotion to family, and an unwavering grace that touched everyone he met.

Throughout his life, Jerome was known not for titles or accolades, but for the warmth in his voice, the calm in his presence, and the unconditional love that poured from his heart. He had a way of making everyone feel seen, heard, and valued.

A proud Army veteran of the 82nd Airborne Division, Jerome dedicated his time and energy to serving others, always placing the needs of the community and family above his own.

Jerome was preceded in death by his beloved Father Jerome J. Kern Sr, Mother Tula M. Marshall, & Beloved Sister Linda L. Slowinski.

Above all, Jerome was a devoted Son, Brother, Father, & Friend, whose love was the anchor of our lives. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion, wisdom, and strength. He is survived by His Only Wife Arlene Kern who he married on Oct. 27, 1967. His four Children Tina Nice, John Knight, Debra Gregory (Paul) Geri Thorstad (Jerry) His Grandchildren: Ronald, Anthony, Kyle, Shawn, Michael, Jamie, Jessica, & Kinley. His Great Grandchildren: Skylar, Willow, Jones, Clementine, Mabel, & Hazzell. And countless others who were lucky to be loved by him.

Though Jerome has left our sight, his love remains - forever carried in our hearts, in every memory, every quiet moment, and every act of kindness inspired by the way he lived.

"Heavenly Father, We come before You with heavy hearts, grieving the loss of Your son, Jerome Joseph Kern II. In the midst of sorrow, we thank You for the life he lived, the joy he brought, and the legacy he leaves behind. You knew him intimately – his struggles, triumphs, quiet moments, and loud victories. Lord, we lift up his family, friends, teammates, and all those touched by his presence. Wrap them in Your peace that surpasses understanding, like a warm blanket in the coldness of grief. Remind them that You are near to the brokenhearted, collecting every tear. For those wrestling with questions, pain, or regret, be their refuge. For those remembering his laughter, strength, and spirit, let those memories be a

balm. And for those silently suffering, may this moment awaken compassion, connection, and healing. We ask for Your mercy over his soul and Your grace over those left behind. May this loss stir us to love deeper, listen more, and reach out to those who feel unseen. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen!."

Rest peacefully, Jerome. You are deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

Family will receive friends on Friday, October 3, 10AM until the Funeral Service at 12PM, at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home (Vasu, Rodgers & Connell Chapel), 32515 Woodward Ave., Royal Oak, 48073. Burial to follow at 2PM at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, MI. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jerome's remarkable life. In honoring him, may we be reminded of the power of love, service, and quiet grace.
