Paul Gorcyca Obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Paul Gorcyca on September 15, 2025. "Goose", a gentle man with endless kindness and radiating humor. His fabulous smile lit up the room.
Paul was a Christmas gift, born on December 25,1963. Paul was preceded in death by his father S. Gerald Gorcyca. He is survived by his mother Mary Jo Gorcyca.
Paul was the proud and loving father to his daughters, Madison and Morgan, that he shared with his former wife, Karen Drew. There was nothing more important than being a father and he basked in the glory of being a girl dad.
Paul is also survived by his siblings Debbie Crawford (David/Kahuna), David Gorcyca (Lisa) and Lynn Trout (Bruce). Paul was the fun and loving "Uncle Goose" to Jessica Orr (Tyler), Christopher Babcock (Lindsay), Shane Gorcyca (fiancee Michelle), Allie Gorcyca, Peter Trout, Patrick Trout, Ryan Gorcyca and great uncle to Oliver, Henry and George Orr.
Paul attended St. Regis and then Brother Rice High School playing baseball and basketball until his great toboggan accident ended his career. He then took up coaching 7th and 8th graders for a championship win in basketball for St Regis. Paul moved on to college at Michigan State University where his unyielding passion for MSU began. He graduated from the business school with a Materials and Logistics Management degree. He had a di cult time departing from East Lansing but Honda of America enticed him with position in purchasing. Ford Motor Company brought Paul back to Michigan with a position in purchasing continuing his long and successful career in the automotive industry. Paul advanced his career to Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Venture Industries (formerly Collins and Aikman). His next advancement was to Plastech becoming President South Business Unit and Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Paul's passion for sports made it easy to move his automotive career over to Piston Group where he was the Director of New Business Development.
Paul loved family, most importantly his girls and sharing his traditions and passions with them. If you knew Paul it was "Go Green, Go White" all day everyday. Tailgating at MSU was a highlight for him and he shared that passion, energizing all the family to partake in chants and deep loyalty for the Spartans. Paul enjoyed watching sports but nothing greater than watching
his daughters play sports. Paul played basketball, baseball, football, hockey, skiing but golf became his most devoted hobby. Golf was a pleasure he enjoyed that allowed him to cultivate so many lasting friendships. Paul enjoyed entertaining family, friends, welcoming all because he had a knack for befriending people with his warmth and humor. He often hosted our annual
family Polish sausage making parties and his favorite, Christmas Eve. Paul would not miss his favorite untraditional holidays, Tiger"s Opening Day and St. Patrick's Day. Many people were delighted by his spontaneous little Irish jigs.
There are many lives that Paul touched, he often helped others with no acclaim or fanfare. He was generous and humble, a trait that is a great example for all. Paul leaves behind many adoring family and friends, too countless to name. And one more time for Goose,"Go Green!"
