Jerome "Jerry" Meredith Livergood, age 82 of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at his residence, with family by his side.
He was born on July 10, 1943, in Marysville, the son of George Dale and Mae Agnes (Shaffer) Livergood.
Jerome married Barbara Weichel on December 28, 1963. This union produced three angels, Michael, Marisa, and Melaine. They divorced in 1991.
He began working with the Kansas Department of Transportation in Wamego, transferring to Salina, at which time he was involved with building the first part of the interstate highway system on I-70. He then transferred to Topeka and completed thirty years before retiring to seek new adventures.
Jerome loved attending his children's sporting events and activities. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and had a passion for driving and traveling.
He is survived by his companion, Sally Livergood; three children, Michael Livergood and wife Sara of Bellevue, Nebraska, Marisa Yost and husband Marty of Topeka, and Melaine Kester and husband Edward of Hoyt; two siblings, Janet Livergood of Waterville and Robert Livergood of Waterville; six grandchildren, Jacob Livergood, Matthew Livergood (Briana), Derek Cox (Bethany), Sydney Yost, Alexandria Kester, and Wyatt Kester, and two great grandchildren, Hudson Cox and Kira Cox.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Friday, April 3, 2026, at the Christie-Anderes Funeral Home in Waterville, with Rod Christie officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 am until service time on Friday. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery.
A memorial may be made to St. Croix Hospice and left in care of the Christie-Anderes Funeral Home, PO Box 61, Waterville, Kansas 66548
