Jerrell K. Clephane, age 83 passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, August 6, 2024 at his home in Indianapolis surrounded by his loving family. He was a former resident of Brown County and Morgantown.
Jerrell was born July 4, 1941 in Morgantown, to his parents, the late Charles and Onetia (Kemp) Clephane. He attended Helmsburg High School in Brown County and went on to proudly serve his country as a Sergeant with the 4th Armored Division of the United States Army. Jerrell was honorably discharged on December 11, 1962.
Jerrell was a retired Barber of 40 years and was the owner and operator of Jerrell's Barber Shop in Morgantown. He enjoyed tending to his flower gardens, fishing and mushroom hunting. Jerrell also enjoyed feeding the birds & deer as well as caring for his dog, Sassy. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed family gatherings, especially during the holidays.
Jerrell is survived by his devoted wife of 35 years, Gloria J. (Sullivan) Clephane, whom he married on December 9, 1989 in Morgantown. He is also survived by his children, Rhonda (Wayne) Nation of Brazil, Kim Christie of Washington State, Chrissy (Doug) Thomas of Indianapolis and Kevin (Colin) Haddle of St. Charles, IL; sisters, Dolores Moore of Morgantown and Nancy Woods of Florida; grandchildren, Brittany Cook, Tylor Nation, Megan West, Ashley Kelley, Cierra Nation, Makensey Nation, Jalen Christie, Misty Bryant, Ethan Carney, Joshua Helle and Jenna Sichting; and several great grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Jerrell was preceded in death by his son, Brian Clephane; siblings, Charles Clephane Jr., Marion Clephane and Charlette Kreitzer.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 16th from 12 to 2 p.m. at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. on Friday conducted by Bros. Rodger Bunch and Bill Flora. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown with military rites presented by the United States Army and the Martinsville American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Honor Guards.

I was much younger than Jerrell, but my Father Harry took us to visit until my Mother got so sick Dad had to raise all 6 of us by him self. We remember with fond memories!
