SCHENECTADY - Jerri McIntosh Scranton Hill, 64, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at Ellis Hospital, after a short illness. She is now at peace, joined once again with her beloved husband Fred and those she loved who have gone before her.
Born on April 2, 1961, in Schenectady, Jerri was the daughter of the late William and Marjorie McIntosh. She was a proud graduate of Linton High School. A dedicated and hardworking woman all her life, Jerri spent many years employed as a clerk at Capital District OTB before becoming a employed at the Trailways Bus Terminal in Schenectady. Never one to shy away from extra work, she also took on part-time roles as a cook and bartender at Gravel Gertie’s—jobs perfectly suited to her friendly nature, love of people, and ability to offer the best advice with a smile.
On February 20, 2010, Jerri married the love of her life, Fred Brown Hill Sr. Together; they celebrated each day side by side, inseparable partners whose names were always said together—like peanut butter and jelly. Their beautiful life together continued until Fred’s tragic passing on October 17, 2024, a loss from which Jerri’s heart never fully recovered.
Jerri was a woman with wisdom far beyond her years, known for her kindness, generosity, and deep compassion. She adored her family, always putting them first. She was a devoted wife, sister, aunt, step-mother, grandmother, and a treasured friend to so many. She had a special place in her heart for animals—especially cats. She lovingly rescued homeless cats, giving each one a safe and cherished home, additionally the Buffalo Bills could not have a more loyal fan.
She found great joy in planning holiday gatherings, carefully creating menus with Fred and making every celebration feel warm and unforgettable. Jerri and Fred lived as one in life, and now, they will rest together in eternity as one.
Jerri was predeceased by her loving brother, William McIntosh, Jr.
She is survived by her devoted and loving family; sister, JoAnn (Brian) Cotterell, nephews, Christopher ( Meggan) Cotterell and BJ Cotterell; step-daughter, Nicole (Dominick) Adami; grandchildren, Giana, Karalyn, Lilith and Everly; mother-in-law, Patricia Young; and many dear friends, who remained a constant in Jerri and Fred’s life.
