SCHENECTADY-Benjamin “Bennie” Izzo, Sr., 85, passed peacefully into eternal rest on Sunday, November 30, 2025 at his home, surrounded by his loving family after a long, courageous and well fought battle with cancer.

Bennie was born in Schenectady, a son of the late Louis and Antoinette Lupi Izzo, Sr. He attended Nott Terrace High School and began work at Rayco Upholstery, learning and becoming a master upholster. From 1968 to 2004, Bennie, along with his brother Tony, started Izzo’s Auto Seat Covers on Union Street; and grew their business in several locations throughout Schenectady. They were especially known for their remarkable ability to recreate classic upholstery designs and convertible tops with craftsmanship that stood out. Bennie began his self-taught plumbing business, in 2004, as The Retired Plumber. Bennie was a devoted husband and father, a loving presence and a steadfast provider to the family he cherished. He was truly a colorful and vibrant character; always with a smile and friendly gesture to everyone he met.

He was predeceased by his wife, Deanna Bosler Izzo; a son, Bennie Izzo, Jr.; sisters, Josephine Izzo, Lois Izzo and Helene Armsted.

Bennie is survived by his loving daughters; Lisa Zebrowski and Robin (Gerald) Knapp; grandchildren, Amber (Casey) Brower, Brittany (Dan) Dugo, Tiffany (Adam) Boster, Stefano (Hannah) Izzo, Zachary Zebrowski, Alexis Knapp, and Rocco Knapp; great-grandchildren, Viviana Brower, Evelyn and Cassie Boster; siblings, Tony (Kitty) Izzo, and John (Michelle) Izzo; also survived by nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Friday at 12 noon at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501 Union St, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 pm at St. Luke’s Church, State Street. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens, Colonie.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Thursday from 4 to 7 pm. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens.
