Jerry Arp Obituary
Funeral services will take place at Peace Lutheran Church on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon and burial to follow. Visitation, with family present, will be at Heritage Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 from 4:00- 6:00 p.m.
Jerry Allen Arp was born March 18, 1951 in the Luverne Hospital to Verlyn and Luella Arp from Beaver Creek, MN. He grew up and went to school at Beaver Creek and graduated from the Hills-Beaver Creek High School. Jerry attended Sioux Falls College where he played football. He enlisted in the US Air Force in 1970.
Jerry married Becky Ellsworth on August 28, 1971 in Luverne, MN. Jerry and Becky lived in Tucson, Arizona and Taiwan during his four years in the service. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force and then moved to Sioux Falls, SD. He was employed by the US Post Office for 32 years, during which he was postmaster for the last seventeen of those years. In 1977 they had a son, Nathan and in 1983 they had a second son, Dustin.
Jerry loved his family, fishing, travel, golf, and football, especially Nebraska and the Minnesota Teams. Jer was a great fisherman as he caught two walleyes over ten pounds in Lac Seal, Canada over the years. He loved spending time with his family and especially loved time with his wonderful and very loving wife, Becky. They were inseparable and they were truly a wonderful and loving couple.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Becky Arp (Ellsworth); son Nathan (Miranda) Arp of Otsego, MN, and Dustin (Megan) Arp of Centennial, Colorado and two grandchildren, Brynli and William Arp. He is also survived by his sister, Carol (Rod) Hadler of Hills, MN; brother Bob (Roxy) of Valley Springs, MN; brother-in-law Steven (Jeanne) Ellsworth of Rock Rapids, Iowa and many other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death are his father Verlyn Arp and mother Luella and brother Billy.
