Jerry Ashlock Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory - Bartlesville on Feb. 2, 2026.
Jerry Ashlock, age 77, of Copan, Oklahoma, passed away on January 26, 2026, after a courageous battle with leukemia and complications of pneumonia. Born on August 18, 1948, in Owasso, Oklahoma, Jerry lived a life filled with devotion to family, loyalty to community, and a deep passion for going fast, restoring cars, big adventure, and anything outdoors.

Jerry will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Jaime Ashlock. Son, Daniel Ashlock and wife Jorrae along with their son Arlo Ashlock; his inseparable brother, Calvin Ashlock, many family members and longtime friends. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 44 years, Paulette Hadley Ashlock; his mother, Dorothy Ashlock-Lynn; his father, Calvin Ashlock; and his sister, Deloris Carboni.

A graduate of Copan High School's Class of 1967, Jerry spent over 50 years in the Copan community. On May 28, 1971, he married his high school sweetheart and soulmate, Anna Paulette Hadley. Together they made their home in Bartlesville until 1978 and then moved to Copan where they raised their two children.

Jerry spent most of his working life in construction, working alongside his brother Calvin before retiring from Ashlock & Ashlock Construction, which was a business that they built together. Working side by side, the two built custom homes around the Copan, Dewey, and Bartlesville area for over 25 years. Whether they were on the job or off the clock, you could often find Jerry and Calvin debating, competing, or trying to one-up each other. Their banter was legendary, their rivalry harmless and hilarious, and their teamwork unmatched. In their earlier years, Jerry and Calvin raced street cars and jet boats, pushing limits and embracing their shared love for speed. Even as they got older, that racing spirit never left-they famously raced their scooters at Calvin's 79th birthday party, proving that age could slow the body but not the heart of a racer. They shared countless hunting and fishing trips over the decades, creating memories as brothers, best friends, and partners in every adventure life offered.

Hard work was in his blood, but service to his community was in his heart. He volunteered with the Copan Com-munity Action Team, devoted countless hours to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Washington Cove on Copan Lake helping to maintain the campgrounds. He was also a proud supporter and donor of the beloved Copan Lake Fireworks.

If it was fast and loud, Jerry loved it. Cars, motorcycles, boats if it roared, he was in. A licensed sports pilot, he found peace (and plenty of adrenaline) flying his powered parachute across Oklahoma skies. He restored and customized countless cars over the years, mastering the art of building hot rods and high-performance engines. Many of his cars were in car shows and were unique to his creativity, often taking first place in its class. Jerry was also a long-time member of the Oldies & Goodies Car Club and enjoyed friendly competition at the Elks Club in Bartlesville, where he was known for his shuffleboard skills and easygoing charm.

Outdoors was his second home. Hunting, fishing, camping, flying his powered parachute, Jerry embraced it all. When he wasn't in the sky or under the hood of a car, he was tinkering around the house, fixing anything and everything. No challenge was too big, no tool too small. Jerry could repair anything and was a master at just about anything he set his mind to.

He was also the grill master the man behind countless family cookouts, lake gatherings, and sizzling summer evenings. Everyone knew that if Jerry was cooking, you were in for something good.

In recent years, some of his greatest joys came from simple routines watching his grandson Arlo grow, daily lunches with his brother Calvin and the quiet companionship of his loyal dogs, Odie and Debo, who rarely left his side.

Jerry lived boldly, loved deeply, and left a legacy of fast cars, adventure, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends. His spirit will forever echo in the rumble of an engine, the sparkle of Copan Lake, and the memories he leaves in the hearts of all who knew him.

There will be a family visitation on Thursday, February 5th from 5- 7PM at Stumpff Funeral Home. Jerry's celebration of life will be held on Friday, February 6th at 2PM at the Copan High School Gymnasium with arrangements by Stumpff Funeral Home and Crematory. His final resting place will be in Wann Oklahoma at the Wann Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Copan Community Action Group at PO Box 202, Copan, OK. 74022. The donations will go toward the Copan Lakeside Fireworks in celebration of the 4th of July.
