Jerry Bishop Obituary
Jerry Bishop, a devoted husband, father, and proud Navy veteran, peacefully passed away on June 3, 2024 at the age of 88.
Born in Muskegon, Michigan to John and Elsie Bishop, Jerry grew up with a sense of duty and honor. His years of service in the Navy were a testament to his commitment to his country and his fellow servicemen.
Jerry was defined by his love for his family. He cherished every moment spent with his beloved wife of 53 years, Gail Bishop, and their four children. His unwavering support, guidance, and unconditional love will forever be remembered by those whose lives he touched.
An avid lover of lake life, Jerry found joy spending time outdoors enjoying nature with his family. Whether it was camping at Woods and Waters, driving his pontoon on Fine Lake or simply enjoying the beauty of the wilderness, he found peace in the simplicity of these moments. He also found great joy in the art of poetry. His verses, filled with depth and emotion, reflected his innermost thoughts and feelings which led to the national publication of two poems.
Professionally Jerry excelled in the field of lithography, where his talent and passion for his craft led to starting his own business. His meticulous attention to detail led to his nickname, "Magic Man", and left an indelible mark on his work and inspired those around him.
Jerry's legacy of love, loyalty, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Though he may no longer be with us in body, his spirit will continue to guide and inspire us every day.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Gail Bishop, their cherished children, Kathryn (Randall) Becker, Kenneth (Mary) Bishop, Cheryl (Jerry) Johnson and Kimberly Zbikowski, as well as nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Rest in peace, dear Jerry. Your memory will forever be a beacon of light in our lives.

I used to work with Jerry when I first moved from Indiana to Battle Creek Michigan. He worked in the film department and he was a joy to work with and I became good friends with him. After our company closed their doors, I moved back to my home in Southern Indiana and lost touch with Jerry. About 15 years after moving back home I started spending time in the winter months in Florida. I called a person that I knew had moved there from Michigan and they let me know that Jerry had moved there also. I added him down and for the next four or five Winters I got to spend time with Jerry in Lakeland Florida. He had such a kind heart and happy disposition, that it was so easy to fall in love with this man. He would always send me home with grapefruit from his own backyard. The last time I saw him in Florida was in 2015 and I never heard from him again. Another old friend called me last night and said they thought to Jerry might have passed away. I started checking obituaries and that's how I found this out and I just wanted to say I truly loved you Jerry has a good friend and I hate to hear of your passing. Jerry was kind of a father figure when you were around him then it was ironic when I saw that he passed away on June 3rd, which was the same day back in 2007 that my father passed away. Heaven has got them a good man and I have lost a fellow military comrade and good friend. Rest in peace Jerry Bishop.
