Jerry was born in Brownfield on November 7, 1947, to Hiram and Mary (Marley) Cole.

At the age of 17, he enlisted in the Army in Amarillo on December 2, 1964. Through the military, he completed his education, earning an Associates of Environmental Engineering. Jerry served multiple tours in Vietnam and was stationed around the United States, in Korea, and in Germany. He retired from the Army after over 20 years of decorated service with the rank of Sgt. First Class. He was a lifetime member of the VFW in Brownfield, TX.

A devoted family man, Jerry shared his life with his beloved wife, Marilyn Gail Ellerd, whom he married in Seagraves on December 18, 1971. Together, they raised two sons, Brian Patrick Cole and Jeremy Kyle Cole. They experienced the joys and challenges of military life, living both stateside and overseas in Germany during Jerry's dedicated service in the Army.

After retiring from the military, Jerry and Marilyn settled in Colorado Springs, where Jerry applied his skills in maintenance at the prestigious Broadmoor Hotel. In addition, he managed the janitorial staff for the City of Colorado Springs. A skilled and hard-working individual, Jerry was known for his mechanical aptitude and passion for fixing things.

Jerry loved Marilyn and diligently served as her caregiver in her final years. They had 33 years together before her passing in 2005. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and 4 brothers, Dewey Cole, Tommy Cole, Roy Cole and Arthur "Art" Cole.

Jerry is survived by his 2 sons, Brian Patrick Cole and wife, Renee Pabilonia-Cole and Jeremy Kyle Cole and wife, Georgia Cole, all of whom live in Colorado Springs; 5 grandchildren, Kirsten Alires and husband, Xavier, Caleb Cole, Emily Cole, Declan Cole and Azlyn Cole; 2 great-grandchildren, Aria Alires and Oliver Alires; and 2 brothers, William "Harold" Cole of New Mexico and Timothy Cole of Florida.
