Jerry Richard Cox, 87, passed away Sunday, October 26 at Wesley Long Hospital, Greensboro, NC.

Jerry was born February 9, 1938, to Frances Worley King in Waynesville, NC. He spent his youth in Canton, running around the NC mountains creating havoc with his 'partner in crime', younger brother, John.

Jerry graduated from Canton High School, went to Western Carolina, then came to Greensboro, NC where he graduated from Blanton Business College. Upon graduation, he spent 3 years with the US Army in Military Intelligence touring Europe. After his discharge, he met his then wife, Judy Saul (Cooper) and began a career at Gilbarco where he worked in various positions for the next 19 years, while starting his family and meeting life-long friends.

Jerry was a diehard Tarheel fan, a lover of old westerns, the one to call for pig -pickins (best pork ever), a quick trip to Santee Cooper for a fishing trip, or to hang out and exchange short stories and tall tales with friends. You could always catch him singing or whistling a tune.

Jerry is survived by his children: son, David Cox of Greensboro; daughter, Kathy Poole of Trinity, daughter & son-in-law, Nikki & Raymond Sims of Greensboro, and grandchildren that he adored Britni Cox, Will & Tyler Poole, as well as his beloved sister, Cozette West.

He is preceded in death by his buddy and brother, John Cox, brother-in-law, James West, and many of his fun-loving pals.

Jerry will especially be remembered for his candidness and quick-witted humor.

A memorial will be held at Cumby Family Funeral Service, located at 1015 Eastchester Dr, High Point, NC, in the Life Tribute Center on Sunday, November 2nd from 2-4 pm.

Cumby Family Funeral Service of High Point is honored to serve the Cox family at this time.
