Jerry M. Deuchler, age 83, of Marion, IL, passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 7:39 p.m. at his home.
He was born on January 28, 1940 in Aurora, IL, the son of Carl Joseph and Adra Deuchler. He was united in marriage to Marsha Ann Smoot on December 19, 1969 at her parents' home in North Aurora, IL, and together they have shared nearly 54 years of marriage.
He proudly answered the call of his nation and served his country in the United States Army.
Jerry was a machinist and worked for various machine shops throughout Southern Illinois until his retirement. He had a passion for working with horses and when he wasn't working at the machine shop, he could often be found at the stables.
Jerry was of the Christian faith and enjoyed fishing and hunting rabbits, squirrels, ducks and geese. He was an excellent cook and enjoyed his time with his family. He will be remembered for years to come for his witty spirit, always pulling a good prank on someone and being a jokester.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marsha Deuchler of Marion, IL; daughter, Marilyn Ann (Jeff) Hoffard of Pittsburg; son, Dale Alan Deuchler of Benton, IL; three grandchildren, Dakota Hoffard (fiancé, Dakotah Arms), Hope Hoffard and Colt Hoffard, all of Pittsburg; and numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 North Court Street, Marion, IL 62959.
In accordance with his wishes, no public services will be held at this time.
For those who prefer, memorial donations may be directed to "Disabled American Veterans." Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or may be mailed c/o Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 North Court Street, Marion, IL 62959.
