Jerry Dibling—beloved husband, father, Papa, brother, and friend—passed away on August 25, 2025, at the age of 65 in his home.
Born on October 10, 1959, in Taylor, Michigan, Jerry was the youngest son of Gerald Dibling and Patricia Hardy (Dibling). He was lovingly raised in Petoskey by his mother, Pat, and his father, Del Kabrin.
In November 1980, Jerry moved to Dallas, Texas, where he soon met the love of his life, Karen Ratliff. The two married on May 8, 1982 and settled in Garland, Texas, where they joyfully welcomed their children, Kari Jean and Kabrin Thomas.
Jerry lived—and loved—BIG. His larger-than-life personality made sales not just his career, but his calling, as he built countless relationships that grew into lifelong friendships. An avid fisherman, Jerry never missed an opportunity to “throw a line,” no matter where he traveled. He also found joy in the kitchen, especially in cooking meals and baking bread to share. Holidays and Sunday dinners were his favorite occasions, bringing family together around the table.
Above all, Jerry was his family’s ultimate champion—their constant encourager and #1 fan.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Karen; his children, Kari (Greg Moulton) and Kabrin (Rebecca); his grandchildren, Kai, Keian, and Kearney; his siblings, Linda (Bud Vandenberg), Barb (Norb Daniel), Bill (Joy), and Patt (Dave Clement); and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 3, from 12:00 - 3:00 pm. with a formal time of remembrance and remarks to begin at 1:00 PM, at the Charles W. Smith Funeral Home in Sachse, Texas.
