Jerry Sanford Downing

Jerry Sanford Downing 69, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2022 in a St. Joseph health care center. He was born June 26, 1953 in Kansas City, Missouri, son of the late Gertie & Merritt Downing. Jerry was married to Nancy Downing for 37 years. He loved fishing, camping, riding his bike, listening to music, talking on his CB radio, and building model cars. He was a collector of many things, and was a friendly outgoing person, who like joking around with people. He would do anything to help someone out in a time of need. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters, Robin Downing and an infant daughter. Survivors include: wife Nancy Downing, son: Jerry Sanford Downing Jr, step children; Donna (Elmer) Hatheway, Carol Lee, Nancy (Billy) Hatheway, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, and his girl friend, Cheryl Sheffield. He will be cremated under the care of the Rupp Funeral Home. Services will be held at a later date. Memorials are requested to the Jerry S Downing Memorial Fund in care of the Rupp Funeral Home.
