Jerry Ned Gilmartin, Sr, passed away peacefully on September 4th, 2025, at the age of 90. He is survived by his wife, MaryAnn Gilmartin, five of his seven children, 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, his brother James Gilmartin (Jamie) and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
He was born at home in Kansas on January 21, 1935. He grew up in Fort Worth, Texas in an avid golfing family. He was on the green before he could walk and played as frequently as possible with his 3 brothers. His love of golf continued throughout his life playing in college and adulthood. Jerry was a highly competitive player, winning the DeSoto National among other tournaments. He passed along the love of the game to several of his children. After retiring from a career in sales, he returned to the course serving as both a starter and marshal.
He leaves behind his children Maureen Richards (David), Jerry Gilmartin Jr., Eileen Eith (David), Robin Gilmartin Poloso (Neil), Timothy Gilmartin (LynAnne) and his daughter-in-law Masumi Gilmartin. He was preceded in death by his children Kathleen Gilmartin and Kristopher Gilmartin, and his brothers William (Bill) Gilmartin and Bob Gilmartin.
The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, October 11th at 11am. All friends and family are welcome. The family asks that donations to the American Brain Foundation be made in lieu of flowers or other gifts.
