It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jerry Kenton Hite, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and treasured friend. Jerry passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at the age of 88.
Born on April 4, 1937, in Virgilina, Jerry was the son of Sherman Willis Hite and Maurine Bowen Hite. He is preceded in death by his parents, as well as his brother, William Carroll Hite.
Educated at Danville Technical Institute, Jerry specialized in HVAC systems, refrigeration, and electrical, a testament to his technical skills and lifelong dedication to his craft. He thrived as a handyman, known throughout Clarksville as the person who could fix anything. Jerry served his community with unwavering dedication. He was known for his willingness to help others, often answering calls in the middle of the night and extending a helping hand to those in need.
Jerry's life was rich with personal joys and community involvement. He served on the Clarksville Town Council for eight years and was deeply embedded in the fabric of his community and church. A lover of antiques and passionate about time spent with friends and family on the lake, Jerry's interests were as varied as his immense contributions to those around him.
Jerry is survived by his adored wife of 56 years, Peggy Jones Hite; his beloved daughters, Jackie Hite Ford and Tiffany Hite Stevens, along with her husband, Jimmy. He leaves behind four grandchildren, Catherine and Cameron Ford, and Sawyer and Cash Stevens, who were the light of his life. He also leaves behind his dear sister, Ann Hite Inge.
