Jerry Hollifield, age 88, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2023 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.
Jerry was born Monday, January 14, 1935 in Rutherford County to the late William Ralph Hollifield and Faye Stephens Hollifield. He was a graduate of Tri-High, class of 1953 and attended Isothermal Community College. He worked in sales for Moland-Drysdale Buick Company and as the circulation manager for the Daily Courier for many years. Jerry was a member of Caroleen United Methodist Church and enjoyed golfing, woodworking, working on puzzles and watching NASCAR. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Lynne Hollifield; brother, Steve Hollifield and sister, Brenda Tuller.
Those left to honor his memory include his loving wife of almost seventy years, Doreen Carver Hollifield; son Bill Hollifield (Kay) of Rutherfordton; grandchildren, Kate Sand (Rob), Isaac Weiner (Danny), Matt Hollifield (Jessica), Kaylee Keever (Charlie), and great-grandchildren R.P. Sand, Riley Hollifield, J.R. Hollifield, McKinley Keever and Ellie Keever.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 14th at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Roy Byers officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
Memorial donations are requested to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC or to the Caroleen United Methodist Church, PO Box 187, Caroleen, NC 28019.
