Jerry Lee Hurst, age 75, of Belleville, Ill., born January 25, 1947 in Belleville, passed away Friday, March 18, 2022 at his home.
Jerry was a Metal Pattern Maker and began his trade career at Central Pattern in East St. Louis. He worked for many years at Acme Pattern, Belleville Pattern, Arnet Pattern, and ultimately retired from Central Pattern Co., in Hazelwood, Mo. He was a member of the Pattern Makers Assocation and the Machinist Association, and was a former member of the Moose Lodge. Jerry was a ham radio operator for many years, and an avid stock-car enthusiast and racer for over 30 years, participating in Allied Auto Racing Assoc., Southwest Stock Cars Assoc., and Merimac Basin Racing Assoc.
He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy J. Hurst; son Ronald J. Hurst; twin brother Terry L. Hurst; step-daughter Tracey L. Klug; grandson Tyler A. Stephens; granddaughter Jennifer Rattermann.
Surviving are his children Kenneth (Kathleen) Hurst of Channelview, Tex., Suzanne (Adam) Bauers of Belleville; daughter-in-law Tracy Hurst of Belleville; sister Barbara Gabel; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and his beloved cat BooBoo.
The family will receive friends from 4 – 7 pm, Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, O'Fallon, Ill. Graveside Service will be held at 11 am, Thursday, March 24, 2022, at College Hill Cemetery, Lebanon, Ill.
