Jerry Ann (Koenig) Johnson, 83, of Ranger, Texas, passed away at her home on December 6, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Jerry was born on June 30, 1942, in Coleman, Texas, to L.D. and Martha Nan "Queenie" (Adams) Koenig. She grew up in this part of Texas, graduated from Cross Plains High School, and went on to Tyler Junior College, where she began her training in nursing.
On February 5, 1970, she married Cecil Andrew "Andy" Johnson in Mexico, and the two of them spent more than 50 years together building a life full of family, hard work, and plenty of stories.
Jerry worked for 19 years as the office manager at Featherlite in Ranger, where people knew they could count on her to keep things running and tell it like it was. She was a woman of faith and was shaped by her Baptist upbringing, which gave her a steady sense of right and wrong and a quiet strength.
At home, Jerry had a soft spot for anything that grew or needed caring for. She loved her flowers and could turn a patch of dirt into something worth showing off. The same was true for animals: if a stray dog or cat showed up, it didn't stay a stranger for long. It got food, a place to rest, and usually a name.
Jerry especially loved Christmas. She enjoyed decorated trees, twinkling lights, and riding around to look at everyone's decorations. Simple things like that gave her a lot of joy.
She was also a very good cook, and many of the best family memories were made around her table. If you were in her circle, you knew you could count on her loyalty, her honesty, and her willingness to stand up for the people she loved. She faced more than 15 years of cancer with the same grit and stubbornness she brought to everything else in her life.
Jerry is survived by her husband, Andy Johnson of Ranger; two sons, Rusty Johnson and wife, Wendy of Kingsland, and Michael Johnson and wife, Virginia of Gorman; five grandchildren, Ashley, Andrea, Reston, Riana, and Rylan; seven great-grandchildren; her sister, Mary Martha Hutchins and husband, Darvel; and many nieces and nephews who will remember her in their own special ways.
She was preceded in death by her parents, L.D. and "Queenie" Koenig; her twin brothers, Lynn Dwayne and Eddie Lane Koenig; and her sister, Linda Jean Koenig.
Graveside services for Jerry will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Crossroads Cemetery in Ranger, with Ronny Guess officiating and pallbearers Cole Koenig, Clay Koenig, Monty Richards, Matt Jones, Greg Pancake, and Slade Morris. Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday, December 9, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Edwards Funeral Home in Ranger.
