Jerry Glen Jordan, Sr., entered the Lord’s presence on April 28, 2024. He left this world at the age of 83 surrounded by his loving family.
Jerry was born February 10, 1941, in Raleigh, Mississippi to Ollie and Oma Jordan. He, his parents and sister moved to Brandon when he was around five years of age where he lived for the rest of his life.
He graduated from Brandon High School and then attended Hinds Jr. College where he met his future wife. Jerry knew Mary Ellen, a high stepper, was the one for him when he first saw her. He and Mary Ellen were married in 1964. They were married for 55 years, until Mary Ellen passed away in August of 2019.
They had one son, Glen and two daughters, Jan and Teresa.
Jerry worked for over 20 years at General Cable in Brandon. After leaving there he worked several years at both Multicraft in Pelahatchie, MS and Borden Foods in Jackson, MS. He then worked at the Mississippi State Hospital in the maintenance department for over 20 years.
Jerry loved the outdoors. He would plant a huge garden every year, far more than his family could eat and give away a lot of what he raised to other friends and relatives. He also enjoyed fishing. He and his son spent many days fishing trying to see who could catch the biggest fish.
Jerry was a member of Park Place Baptist Church. He always enjoyed watching the church service every Sunday on tv since he was not able to attend in person.
Jerry is survived by his son Glen Jordan; his daughters, Jan Jordan Williams and Teresa Jordan; his grandchild, Jordan Paul Williams; his sister, June Anderson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Jordan and his parents, Ollie Jordan and Oma Jordan.
A funeral will be held at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at 11 am. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 1, 2024 from 5 to 7 pm and 10 to 11 am on May 2, 2024 prior to the funeral service.
