Jerry Alexander Kennedy, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 25, 2025, in Wilmington, North Carolina, at the age of 89. Born on Saturday, November 16, 1935, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Jerry lived a full and vibrant life marked by dedication to his family, his country, and his faith.

Jerry proudly served in the United States Army for 25 years, achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class. His distinguished career included service in the Vietnam War and culminated in his work with the Federal Government at the Pentagon. His commitment to his country was unwavering, and he was honored to have served alongside many brave individuals, including his special friend, Oscar Hall of Maryland.

A man of deep faith, Jerry was a devoted member of the Baptist church. He was known for his outgoing nature and never met a stranger-only friends he hadn't yet met. His kindness, generosity, and sense of humor endeared him to everyone he met. He had a great love of children and cherished the moments spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

His journey in life took him to many places, including Virginia, Maryland, New York, California, England, France, and Germany, before he finally settled in Sneads Ferry, North Carolina.

Jerry's interests were as varied as his life experiences; he found joy in reading and fishing which took him all along the east coast. Perhaps what endeared him most to those around him was his gift for storytelling; often recounting tales of peaceful mornings by the water's edge or the thrill of reeling in a catch. With a twinkle in his eye, he would share enchanting stories of his childhood, war time and the many adventures he embarked on throughout his life. His tales were more than just stories; they were lessons wrapped in humor and wisdom, leaving those who listened richer for having heard them.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father, John Homer Kennedy and mother, Vera (Wilson) Kennedy. He was their last surviving child of 10 to include his sisters, Iris Reeves, Betty Whaley, Peggy Papp, Dorothy Merritt, June Wright and Barbara Snyder, along with his brothers, Frank Kennedy, Woodrow Kennedy and Robert Kennedy.

His legacy lives on through his devoted wife of 67 years, Patricia (Fullerton) Kennedy; his daughters, Kim Crokin of Illinois, Sandy Kennedy of Beaufort, South Carolina, and Allison Kennedy of Sneads Ferry; his sons, Jerry Kennedy Jr. of Beaufort, SC and Graham Saville, of the UK; and his cherished grandchildren, Lauren Mullen, Jacob Wiesidek, Emily Wiesidek, John Dallas, Nathan Crokin, Rachel Crokin, Kathrine Willhelm and Stewart Saville, of the UK. He also leaves behind his great-grandchildren, Carolina Creswell, Anaya Noman, Ziyan Noman, Rose Willhelm and Nicholas Willhelm, and special nephews, JK Reeves, Bobby Reeves, and David Reeves.

Jerry's warmth and friendliness will be remembered by all who knew him. His life was a testament to the power of love, laughter, and service. Services to honor Jerry's remarkable life will be held at a later date.

In the words of those who loved him, Jerry Kennedy taught us that life is richer when shared with others, and his spirit will continue to inspire his family and friends for generations to come. He will be missed but never forgotten.
