Randy Sawtelle Obituary
Randy Allen Sawtelle, born on March 27, 1958, in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at home in Jacksonville, surrounded by his loving family, on August 21, 2025. He was 67 years old.
A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps and the Air Force Reserve, Randy dedicated his life to serving his country and community. After his military service, he worked for over a decade installing cable lines for Time Warner Cable, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication.
Randy was a man of many passions. He loved the tranquility of fishing, finding serenity in the cast of a line and the gentle lapping of water. He found joy in cooking, particularly when preparing his famous macaroni and cheese and oven-baked ribs- dishes that brought family and friends together around the table. He also enjoyed the simple pleasure of people-watching from his front porch, always ready with a smile or a wave.
He leaves behind his beloved significant other, Deborah Heitman. As one of 12 children, he also leaves behind his siblings who lovingly called him "Rudolph" to include: Karen Wood (Steve) of Willow Spring, NC, Holly Pendergrass (Allen) of Knob Noster, MO, Mary Wood (Ray) of Willow Spring, Helen Sedgwick (Richard) also of Willow Spring; Jeffrey Sawtelle (Christine) of Washington, MA, and Larry Sawtelle (Donna) of Dalton, MA.
Several nieces, nephews, and cousins, along with special friends- Jamie Reed Heitman of Jacksonville, Adam Lingefelt of Jacksonville, Christian Gonzalez of Albertson, and Karen and Ken of Beulaville, all hold cherished memories of Randy's laughter and warmth.
Randy is preceded in death by his parents, Roy Sawtelle and Phoebe (Bradley) Sawtelle; his sister, Debbie; and his brothers Roy Jr., Bobby, and David.
Known for his humor, he was a natural jokester, who had an incredible ability to make people laugh. If he wasn't joking, he wasn't talking. Randy was a deeply caring individual, a good provider, and a loving partner, brother, and friend, all hallmarks of his character.
A celebration of Randy's life will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at his home at 2:00 pm. In the meantime, we invite you to remember Randy by sharing a joke, enjoying a good meal, or spending time with loved ones-just as he would have wanted.
