Jerry R. Korte

Mr. Jerry R. Korte, 83, of Hartwell, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at the Rainey Hospice House, Anderson SC.

Born on November 19, 1941 in Hamtramck Michigan, he was the son of the late Henry Korte and Elizabeth Smallshaw Korte. Mr. Korte was a former Broward County FL Sheriff's Deputy and a sales representative for BASF, Hartwell Mica Mine.

Mr. Korte was a faithful member and Senior Deacon of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.in Hartwell, where he just celebrated his 30 years as a Deacon.

Survivors include his children: Kenneth Korte (Inna) of Marysville WA, Kerry Lynn Bishop (Kenny) of Buford GA, Mathew Gholston (Kathryn) of Carthage MO and Solomon Gholston (Angie) of Hartwell; a sister: Mary Jane Anderson of Detroit MI; thirteen grandchildren and five tgreat-grandchildren also survive.

A Memorial Mass to celebrate the life of Deacon Jerry Korte will be held Monday, October 27, 2025 at 12:00 noon at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Monsignor Mike Muhr and Father Tuan John Pham officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Memorial Garden, and a reception will follow in the Founder's Hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Saint Vincent de Paul Society, c/o Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 1009 Benson Street, Hartwell GA 30643.
